Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Fit: Due to the design running slightly long, Danner recommends trying a half-size down from your usual size. Wear them with the type of socks you typically hike in to gauge the fit accurately. Ensure the lace-up closure is snug but not constricting, especially around the ankle.
Care Instructions:
- Cleaning: After use, brush off loose dirt and debris. For tougher grime, use a damp cloth. Avoid harsh detergents. Allow boots to air dry naturally away from direct heat.
- Conditioning: Periodically condition the full-grain leather with a Danner-approved leather conditioner to maintain suppleness and prevent cracking. Apply sparingly.
- Waterproofing Maintenance: The Gore-Tex lining is inherently waterproof. For the leather, periodic reapplication of a suitable waterproofing treatment for leather can enhance performance in very wet conditions.
- Storage: Store boots in a cool, dry place, unlaced, and away from direct sunlight when not in use.
Resole Service: When the outsole eventually wears down, Danner offers a recrafting service to replace the outsole and refresh the boot, extending its life significantly.
