Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Unboxing: Remove boots from packaging. Check for any tags or protective wraps.
- First Fit: Have your child try on both boots with their usual socks. Ensure there is about a thumb's width space between their longest toe and the end of the boot.
- Lacing: Use the traditional lace closure to achieve a snug but comfortable fit around the ankle and foot.
- Side-Zip Check: Test the side-zip to ensure smooth operation. This feature allows for quick entry and exit once the laces are adjusted.
Compatibility
These boots are designed for kids and are suitable for a wide range of everyday activities. They pair well with casual wear such as jeans, trousers, and skirts. Ensure appropriate sock thickness for different weather conditions to maximize comfort.
Care
- Cleaning: For the premium Timberland® leather (nubuck), gently brush off loose dirt with a soft brush (a specific nubuck brush is recommended). For tougher stains, use a specialized nubuck cleaner and follow product instructions. Do *not* use harsh soaps or detergents.
- Drying: If boots get wet, stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and allow them to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, as this can damage the leather.
- Protection: Apply a water and stain repellent spray specifically designed for nubuck leather before first wear and periodically thereafter to protect against elements.
- Storage: Store boots in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Keep them upright to help maintain their shape.
- Laces: If laces become worn, they can be replaced. The original laces are 100% Recycled PET, and replacement with similar eco-friendly options is encouraged.
