FAQs
What is the total length of the lead rope?
The Shires Horse Lead Rope measures 2 meters in length.
Is the material waterproof?
While the polyester construction is water-resistant and does not rot like natural fibers, it will absorb some moisture.
Can this be used for lunging?
This rope is designed for leading and short-distance handling; a 2-meter length is generally too short for effective lunging.
Does the clip rotate?
Yes, the lead features a swivel trigger clip designed to rotate, preventing the rope from twisting.
Is the rope machine washable?
It is recommended to hand wash the rope to prevent the metal clip from damaging your washing machine drum or the rope fibers.
Troubleshooting
Clip is sticking or difficult to open
Apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the spring mechanism and cycle the clip several times to clear debris.
Dirt buildup in the twisted fibers
Soak the rope in a bucket of soapy water and use a soft brush to agitate the dirt from the grooves before rinsing thoroughly.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
This lead rope is compatible with all standard equine headcollars and halters featuring a standard ring attachment point. No special setup is required; simply engage the trigger clip onto the side ring of your halter.
Care Instructions:
- Cleaning: Rinse with warm water and mild soap to remove dirt and stable debris.
- Drying: Air dry naturally away from direct heat sources to preserve the integrity of the synthetic fibers.
- Inspection: Regularly check the die-cast clip for any signs of oxidation or wear, and inspect the polyester rope for loose strands to ensure safe operation.
