Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
- Unboxing: Carefully remove your new boots from the packaging.
- Lacing: Lace up your boots to ensure a snug, comfortable fit. Adjust the laces evenly to avoid pressure points.
- Tongue Adjustment: The foldover tongue comes padded for extra clean striking. You can choose to keep it folded over or remove it if you prefer a different feel. To remove, gently detach it from its fastening mechanism (usually Velcro or a snap).
- Break-In Period: Like most leather boots, the Copa Gloro II FG may require a short break-in period. Wear them for light training sessions or walks before competitive matches to allow the leather to mold to your foot shape for optimal comfort and fit.
Compatibility
- Pitch Type: These boots are exclusively designed for Firm Ground (FG) football pitches. This includes natural grass fields that are dry to moderately firm.
- Not Recommended For:
- Soft Ground (SG): The stud configuration is not suitable for muddy or wet pitches.
- Artificial Ground (AG/Turf): Using FG boots on artificial turf can cause excessive stud pressure, leading to discomfort, reduced grip, and accelerated wear on both the boots and the pitch.
- Indoor (IC/IN): These boots are not designed for indoor court surfaces.
Care & Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your leather football boots.
- Clean After Every Use:
- Remove excess dirt and mud immediately after play using a soft brush or damp cloth.
- For stubborn mud, a gentle spray of water can help, but avoid soaking the boots.
- Use a dedicated leather cleaner for more thorough cleaning, following product instructions.
- Drying:
- Allow boots to air dry naturally at room temperature.
- Do NOT use direct heat sources like radiators, hair dryers, or direct sunlight, as this can dry out and crack the leather.
- Stuff the boots with newspaper or a shoe tree to help absorb moisture and maintain their shape during drying.
- Conditioning:
- Regularly apply a leather conditioner or cream to keep the leather soft, supple, and prevent cracking. This is especially important for natural leather.
- Follow the conditioner's instructions for application and frequency.
- Storage:
- Store your boots in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Using a boot bag can protect them from dust and scratches.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Never put leather football boots in a washing machine, as this can cause irreparable damage to the leather and stitching.
