FAQs
Are these gloves fully submersible?
They are designed to be waterproof against rain and snow, but they are not intended for full submersion in water.
Can I put these in the washing machine?
It is recommended to hand wash these gloves with mild soap to preserve the integrity of the waterproof membrane.
Are they warm enough for deep winter?
These are considered lightweight gloves. They are ideal for mild to moderate cold but may require an additional liner for extreme freezing temperatures.
Do they fit true to size?
Yes, they follow standard sizing, but because of the thin fleece construction, they offer a snug, performance-oriented fit.
Can I use these for cycling?
Yes, the S-grip palm makes them excellent for gripping handlebars in damp or drizzly conditions.
Troubleshooting
Touchscreen responsiveness is inconsistent
Ensure the S-grip area on the fingers is clean and free of dirt, as buildup can interfere with conductivity.
Water appears to soak the outer fabric
While the outer fabric may wet out, the inner Aquasealz™ membrane remains waterproof. If the outer layer persists in soaking, consider re-applying a durable water repellent (DWR) spray specifically for technical gear.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Fully waterproof protection against rain and snow
- Sleek, low-profile design fits easily under coat cuffs
- Touchscreen-compatible fingertips
- Excellent dexterity for everyday tasks
- Breathable material prevents overheating
Cons
- Not suitable for heavy-duty winter mountaineering
- Lightweight build may not offer protection against sharp objects
- Available in limited color options
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the longevity of your Sealskinz Acle gloves, keep them away from direct heat sources such as radiators, which can damage the Aquasealz™ waterproof membrane. When cleaning, avoid harsh detergents; instead, use a mild soap and cold water, gently hand-washing the gloves before hanging them to air dry. Ensure they are completely dry before storing them in a cool, dark place. The gloves are designed to be unisex and fit snugly; if you plan to wear them as a base layer under larger mitts, consider the fit against your hands to avoid restricted circulation.
