FAQs
Are these shoes suitable for athletic sports?
While the 950 is inspired by basketball archives, it is designed for casual lifestyle use and lacks the high-performance technology required for competitive sports.
How do I clean the white leather parts?
Use a damp, lint-free cloth with mild soap. Wipe gently and allow to air dry away from direct heat.
Can I put these in the washing machine?
No, machine washing can damage the leather, degrade the adhesives, and ruin the suede accents. Always clean by hand.
Do these run true to size?
New Balance 950s generally follow standard sizing. If you have particularly wide feet, you may consider a half-size adjustment.
What is the best way to remove heel creases?
Creasing is a natural characteristic of leather footwear. To minimize it, use shoe trees when not in use to help the leather maintain its shape.
Troubleshooting
Visible scuffs on the leather upper
Gently clean with a leather-safe cleaner and apply a neutral leather conditioner to restore the finish.
Suede becomes matted or dirty
Use a specialized suede brush to lift the nap and remove dirt. Avoid using water on suede as it may cause staining.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your New Balance 950 shoes last, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Use a soft-bristled brush to remove surface dust. For leather sections, use a damp cloth with mild soap; for suede accents, use a dedicated suede eraser and brush to avoid matting the fibers.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent the white and cream components from yellowing.
- Protection: Apply a water and stain repellent spray suitable for both leather and suede before the first wear to protect against spills and moisture.
- Fit: These are standard adult low shoes; ensure you have the correct UK sizing to avoid unnecessary heel slippage or toe pressure.
