The You Garden Lily of the Valley perennial plants are ideal for gardeners looking to add a touch of classic, fragrant beauty to shaded corners of their outdoor space. These hardy perennials thrive in moist, dappled shade and provide a striking visual contrast with their delicate, bell-shaped white flowers against deep green foliage; however, it is important to note that these plants remain dormant from September to March and may arrive without leaves during these months.

No, Lily of the Valley is toxic if ingested. Please keep them out of reach of pets and children.
Lily of the Valley prefers dappled shade. Full sun can scorch the leaves and dry out the soil too quickly.
They spread via underground runners. In ideal, moist, shady conditions, they will gradually form a dense carpet over several years.
An annual mulch of leaf mold or compost in the autumn is usually sufficient to keep the soil rich and healthy.
Keep the pots in a cool, protected area like a shed or garage. Keep the soil just slightly moist and plant them out into the garden once the spring weather begins.
Check the time of year; if between September and March, the plant is dormant. Ensure the soil stays slightly moist and wait for spring warmth.
This is often a sign of dry soil. Increase watering frequency and consider moving the plant to a shadier location to reduce heat stress.
To establish your Lily of the Valley, dig a hole slightly larger than the 9cm pot and place the plant at the same depth it occupied in the container. Ensure the soil is rich in organic matter and maintains moisture. Because these plants spread via underground roots, provide them with enough space to colonize over several seasons. If planting in pots, use a high-quality loam-based compost to retain moisture. Watering is critical in the first year to ensure the roots take hold. Please remember that if your order arrives between September and March, the plants are in their natural dormant state; keep the pots in a cool, frost-free spot and they will emerge once temperatures rise in the spring.
