The Thomson Masterpiece Seatpost is engineered for exceptional strength and minimal weight, outperforming other production seatposts by over 40% in ultimate strength tests. This seatpost weighs approximately 40g less than the Elite post of the same size, achieved through comprehensive machining, including the internal oval diameter, which also allows for tighter tolerances. The integral-machined construction from a single piece of high-strength 7000 series aluminum for the tube and head ensures superior strength and lightness, as the head is neither pressed nor bonded. It features a long 1.614-inch (41mm) seat rail grip length to prevent seat rail bending from impact loads, exceeding the grip length of most other seatposts. The design includes a bending fuse to prevent catastrophic failure, unlike competitive seatposts that can break apart. The clamp, head, and upper tube can withstand 325 foot-lbs of torque, with the tube yielding and bending at approximately 230 foot-lbs. In severe impacts, the seatpost will bend slightly, allowing the rider to stop or continue. All parts are captive and easily attachable to a seat without disassembly. It offers infinite tilt adjustment from -5 degrees to +29 degrees, with low-profile clamps that prevent seat interference. The designs and materials have passed rigorous life and ultimate strength tests, with ongoing testing to ensure production lot quality. Certified to EN 14766 2006 MTB. Available in diameters 27.2mm, 30.9mm, and 31.6mm, and colors Black or Silver.
