Full details

The adidas Originals Megaride trainers are for adults seeking a stylish, retro-inspired shoe with modern comfort. The key benefit is its unique midsole design offering a plush ride and head-turning aesthetics, reminiscent of iconic 2000s runners. A potential caveat is that the retro design may not suit those preferring minimalist athletic footwear.

FAQs

Are the adidas Originals Megaride suitable for running?

The Megaride is inspired by running shoe designs from the 2000s but is primarily intended for lifestyle and casual wear. For intense athletic running, specialized running shoes are recommended.

How do I clean the open midsole tunnels?

Use a soft brush or a damp cloth to carefully remove dirt and debris from the open TPU tunnels. Avoid using high-pressure water or harsh chemicals.

What material is the upper made of?

The upper is primarily constructed from a breathable mesh, reinforced with synthetic overlays and TPU stripes for durability.

Does the shoe offer good arch support?

The shoe provides cushioning through its TPU midsole. While it offers a plush ride, individuals requiring significant arch support may need to consider using insoles.

Is this shoe suitable for wide feet?

The Megaride features a regular fit. If you have particularly wide feet, it's advisable to try them on before purchasing or check specific reviews regarding fit.

Can I machine wash these trainers?

It is not recommended to machine wash these trainers, as this can damage the materials and construction. Hand cleaning with a damp cloth and mild soap is the preferred method.

What does the '11 revival' refer to?

The '11 revival' refers to the shoe being a reissue or updated version of an original model from the early 2000s, specifically around the year 2011, bringing back a classic design.

Troubleshooting

Shoes feel too tight

Loosen the laces and re-tie them, ensuring they are not overtightened. If the fit remains snug, consider if the size is appropriate or if the shoe requires a brief break-in period.

Dirt trapped in midsole tunnels

Use a soft brush, such as an old toothbrush, or a damp cloth to carefully dislodge and clean any debris from the open TPU tunnels.

Mesh upper seems dirty

Gently wipe the mesh with a damp cloth and mild soap. For stubborn marks, use a soft brush with a small amount of cleaner, then wipe clean with a damp cloth. Always allow to air dry.

Reduced cushioning feel over time

While the midsole is designed for longevity, cushioning can naturally decrease with extensive use. Ensure the shoes are clean, as debris can sometimes affect the feel. Consider if a break-in period is needed or if the shoes have reached the end of their typical lifespan for optimal comfort.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Unique and iconic retro design from the 2000s.
  • Comfortable ride thanks to the open TPU midsole.
  • Breathable mesh upper keeps feet cool.
  • Secure and comfortable fit with padded collar.
  • Durable construction with reinforced high-wear areas.

Cons

  • The retro aesthetic might not appeal to everyone.
  • May offer less support than modern, specialized running shoes.
  • Open midsole design could be susceptible to trapping debris.
  • Primarily a lifestyle shoe, not optimized for intense athletic performance.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

No specific setup is required for the adidas Originals Megaride trainers. Simply lace them up for a secure and personalized fit.

Compatibility:

These trainers are designed for a regular adult foot and are compatible with various casual outfits. They are not designed for specific athletic activities that require specialized footwear.

Care:

  • Cleaning the Upper: Use a soft brush or a damp cloth to gently clean the mesh and synthetic upper. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that could damage the materials.
  • Midsole Care: Wipe the TPU midsole with a damp cloth. Be mindful of the open tunnel design; use a soft brush or a cloth to carefully remove any dirt or debris trapped within the tunnels.
  • Lining and Insole: For the interior, spot clean with a damp cloth. Allow the shoes to air dry completely away from direct heat.
  • Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, preferably in a shoe bag or the original box to maintain their shape and protect them from dust.
