FAQs

Is the Nike Packable Jacket fully waterproof?

No, the jacket is water-resistant, designed to repel light rain and drizzles. It is not intended for heavy downpours or prolonged exposure to severe wet conditions.

How do I pack the jacket into itself?

The jacket features a hidden pocket, typically found within one of the hand pockets. You can fold the entire jacket neatly into this specific pocket for compact storage.

Does this jacket offer sun protection?

Yes, the fabric is UV-blocking and provides UVA and UVB protection from the sun, but only in the areas of your body covered by the garment.

What materials is the Nike Packable Jacket made from?

The main body of the jacket is composed of 93% Polyester and 7% Elastane. The mesh panels, designed for enhanced breathability, are 100% Polyester.

Can I machine wash this jacket?

Yes, the jacket is machine washable. For best results and to maintain its properties, wash it on a gentle cycle with cold water and a mild detergent.

Is this jacket suitable for cold weather?

This jacket is a lightweight layer designed for protection against wind, light rain, and sun. It does not provide significant insulation and is not suitable as a primary layer for very cold weather or sub-freezing temperatures.

What are the chevron design lines on the front?

The chevron design lines, patterned at a 26-degree angle, are an iconic design element inspired by the original Nike Windrunner track jacket from 1978, adding to its classic athletic aesthetic.

Troubleshooting

Jacket feels too warm or clammy during intense activity.

Ensure the back vent is not obstructed and utilize the full-length zipper to adjust airflow. The mesh panels under the arms are designed to enhance ventilation, so ensure they are not covered by other layers.

Jacket doesn't seem to be repelling water as expected.

The jacket is water-resistant for light rain, not fully waterproof. For heavy downpours, a different type of rain gear is recommended. Ensure the jacket is clean, as dirt and oils can reduce water repellency. Follow care instructions for washing.

Difficulty packing the jacket into its hidden pocket.

Ensure the jacket is completely flat before folding. Start by folding the sleeves inward, then fold the body of the jacket lengthwise until it's narrow enough to fit into the hidden pocket. Carefully push the jacket into the pocket, smoothing it out as you go.

Care Instructions

To maintain the quality and performance of your Nike Packable Jacket, follow these care guidelines:

  1. Machine Wash: The jacket is machine washable. Use a gentle cycle with cold water.
  2. Use Mild Detergent: Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners, as these can damage the fabric's water-resistant and UV-blocking properties.
  3. Wash Separately: Wash with similar colors to prevent dye transfer.
  4. Tumble Dry Low or Hang Dry: For best results and to preserve the fabric's integrity, tumble dry on a low heat setting or, preferably, hang the jacket to air dry. Avoid high heat.
  5. Do Not Iron: Ironing can damage the specialized fabric. If necessary, use a steamer on a very low setting, avoiding direct contact.
  6. Do Not Dry Clean: Dry cleaning chemicals may harm the material.
