Setup, Compatibility & Care
First Use & Setup
- Lacing: Ensure laces are threaded through all eyelets. Start with a comfortable tension at the toe, gradually tightening as you move up the foot. Tie a secure knot.
- Socks: For optimal comfort and moisture management, wear appropriate walking socks. Synthetic or wool blend socks are recommended over cotton, which can retain moisture.
- Break-In: While comfortable out of the box, it's advisable to wear the shoes for shorter periods initially to allow them to conform fully to your foot shape.
Compatibility
These walking shoes are designed for general outdoor activity and casual wear. They are compatible with various terrains suitable for 'light walks,' including paved paths, gravel trails, and grassy areas. They pair well with standard hiking apparel.
Care & Maintenance
Proper care extends the life and performance of your Karrimor Summit Walking Shoes.
- Cleaning: After use, especially if dirty, brush off loose dirt with a soft brush. For stubborn mud, use a damp cloth. For the leather sections, use a specialized leather cleaner if necessary. For mesh panels, a mild soap solution and a soft brush can be used.
- Drying: Allow shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or direct sunlight, which can damage materials, especially leather.
- Storage: Store shoes in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Consider using shoe trees to help maintain their shape.
- Leather Conditioning: If the upper is leather, apply a leather conditioner periodically to prevent drying and cracking. Follow the conditioner manufacturer's instructions.
- Deodorizing: If odors develop, remove insoles and air them out. You can also use shoe deodorizers.
