Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your Dr. Martens last for years, proper care is essential.
Breaking them in: Wear them for short periods initially, perhaps around the house, to help the leather flex naturally before attempting long walks. Thick socks can help reduce friction during the initial break-in phase.
Care Instructions: Use a damp cloth to wipe away surface dirt or dust. Because these feature an embossed pattern, use a soft-bristled brush to gently clean the grooves without damaging the leather texture. Apply a leather conditioner periodically to keep the material supple and prevent cracking. Avoid direct heat sources when drying, as extreme heat can compromise the integrity of the heat-sealed sole.
