Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
- Adjusting the Buckle: Before your first wear, slide your foot into the clog. Adjust the buckle strap so that the top of your foot feels secure but not constricted. You should be able to comfortably wiggle your toes and have a small gap between your heel and the back edge of the footbed, and your toes and the front edge.
- Break-in Period: The cork-latex footbed will conform to your foot over time. Wear your Bostons for short periods initially (e.g., 30 minutes to an hour) and gradually increase wear time over a few days or weeks until they feel fully comfortable.
Compatibility
These Birkenstock Bostons are designed for casual use and offer exceptional comfort for adult wearers. Their unisex design makes them suitable for anyone seeking supportive, comfortable footwear. They pair well with relaxed clothing styles.
Care Instructions
- Suede Upper: Protect the suede from water and stains using a specialized suede protector spray before first wear. To clean, gently brush off dirt with a suede brush. For tougher stains, use a suede cleaner following the product's instructions.
- Shearling Lining: The shearling can be gently brushed to maintain its fluffiness. If it becomes matted or dirty, use a damp cloth with a mild wool-safe detergent and blot gently, then allow to air dry away from direct heat.
- Cork Footbed: Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme heat, which can dry out and crack the cork. If the cork starts to look dry, apply a thin layer of cork sealant.
- EVA Sole: Wipe clean with a damp cloth.
- General: Store your clogs in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid submerging them in water.
