FAQs

Is this jacket fully waterproof?

Yes, it features a TPU membrane rated at 15,000mm, making it highly waterproof and suitable for heavy rain.

Can I wear this in winter?

The Flanagan is a softshell and is best used as part of a layering system; in very low temperatures, it should be paired with an insulating mid-layer.

How should I wash the jacket?

Machine wash on a cool, gentle cycle with a mild detergent, ensuring all zips are closed.

Does the hood detach?

No, the Flanagan features an adjustable grown-on hood.

Is the fabric windproof?

Yes, the technical softshell construction is windproof to protect you against cold gusts.

Troubleshooting

Water begins to soak into the outer fabric

The DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish may need reactivating or reapplying; consult the manufacturer's care instructions for DWR treatment sprays.

Feeling damp inside during high-intensity activity

Ensure you are using moisture-wicking base layers rather than cotton, which traps sweat against the body.

Pros and Cons

Limited to a specific aesthetic style
Requires proper care to maintain water-repellent coating

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure the longevity of your jacket, follow these guidelines. Setup involves adjusting the hem drawcord and cuff tabs to seal out the elements. This jacket is highly compatible with moisture-wicking base layers or thin mid-layer fleeces. When cleaning, machine wash on a gentle cycle using mild, non-biological detergent. Avoid fabric softeners as they can strip the water-repellent finish from the fabric. Always allow the jacket to air dry away from direct heat sources to prevent damage to the waterproof membrane.
