Setup
- Lacing: Ensure laces are securely tied, but not overly tight. Consider using a 'runner's knot' or 'heel lock' lacing technique to enhance midfoot and ankle security, especially on steep or technical terrain.
- Socks: Pair with high-quality, moisture-wicking running socks to prevent friction and blisters, and to optimize the shoe's breathable properties.
Compatibility
The Pegasus Trail 5 is highly compatible with a range of trail types, including forest paths, gravel roads, fire trails, and moderately technical singletrack. It is well-suited for daily training runs, longer efforts, and even trail races on less extreme terrain. It performs best in dry to moderately damp conditions. While it can handle some wetness, it is not designed for extremely muddy, boggy, or slippery rock environments where specialized deep-lugged or waterproof shoes might be necessary.
Care
- Cleaning: After each trail run, remove any loose dirt and debris by gently tapping the shoes together. Use a soft brush (like an old toothbrush) and mild soap with cold water to scrub away stubborn mud from the upper and outsole. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Drying: Allow the shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not use direct heat sources such as radiators, tumble dryers, or direct sunlight, as this can damage the materials and adhesives. Stuffing the shoes with crumpled newspaper can help absorb moisture and maintain their shape.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use to preserve their material integrity and prolong their lifespan.
