Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup & Adjusting
- Donning the Jacket: Simply put on the jacket and use the exposed center front zip to secure it. Ensure the zipper is fully engaged to maximize warmth.
- Hood Adjustment: The attached, three-piece hood features a cinch-cord and cord lock on the back. Pull the cord to tighten the hood around your face for a snug fit, reducing heat loss and protecting against wind. Release the cord lock to loosen.
- Cuff Fit: The elastic-bound cuffs are designed to fit snugly around your wrists, keeping cold air out. Adjust your sleeves as needed for comfort and to accommodate gloves.
Compatibility (Layering)
This jacket is designed as a versatile insulating layer:
- Base Layer: Wear a moisture-wicking base layer underneath for optimal comfort and sweat management.
- Outer Layer: For heavy rain or extremely windy conditions, consider layering a waterproof and windproof shell jacket over the Aconcagua 3 for complete protection. Its relatively low bulk makes it suitable for this purpose.
Care Instructions
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your jacket:
- Washing: Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Use a technical wash designed for down and synthetic insulation, or a mild detergent. Avoid fabric softeners.
- Drying: Tumble dry on low heat with a few clean tennis balls or dryer balls. This helps to redistribute and fluff the down/synthetic insulation, restoring its loft and warmth. Drying may take several cycles; ensure the jacket is completely dry before storing.
- Bleach/Ironing/Dry Cleaning: Do not bleach, iron, or dry clean the jacket, as this can damage the insulation and fabric.
