FAQs

Is the robe suitable for all-day wear?

While it provides great warmth, the robe is primarily intended for changing and short periods of outdoor activity. It is designed to be quite heavy and oversized.

Does it have a zipper?

Yes, it features a durable zip front to allow for quick entry and exit.

Can I use this for winter surfing?

Absolutely, the windproof and waterproof properties make it an excellent choice for winter water sports transitions.

How do I choose the right size?

The robe is designed to be oversized to facilitate changing. If you are between sizes, consider your height and if you prefer extra room for movement.

Is the fabric breathable?

The Hydrafort 5000 is designed primarily for weather protection. While it offers some breathability, it is focused on maintaining internal heat.

Can I wash the robe in a standard washing machine?

Yes, but ensure you use a non-biological detergent and avoid fabric softeners to maintain the waterproof membrane.

Troubleshooting

Water begins to soak through the outer layer

The DWR finish may have worn off; apply a water-repellent spray treatment specifically designed for technical waterproof outerwear.

Fleece lining feels matted or less fluffy

Wash the garment as directed and gently shake or brush the fleece once completely dry to restore its loft.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Excellent wind and water protection
Generous sizing for easy, discreet changing
High-quality, warm fleece insulation
Durable water-repellent finish

Cons

Bulky size makes it less portable
Synthetic material requires specific wash care
Oversized fit may feel heavy when fully saturated

Setup, Compatibility & Care

This robe is ready for use immediately out of the package. Because of the technical Hydrafort fabric, proper maintenance is essential for longevity. Always machine wash on a gentle, cool cycle to avoid damaging the waterproof coating. Avoid using fabric softeners, as they can break down the durable water-repellent (DWR) finish. It is best to air dry the robe in a well-ventilated area away from direct heat sources, such as radiators or tumble dryers, which can warp the synthetic materials or damage the fleece lining.
