Setup, Compatibility & Care
Planting: Choose a location with full sun and well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and plant the rosemary at the same depth it was in its pot. Water thoroughly after planting.
Compatibility: Thrives in herb gardens, rock gardens, and mixed borders. It pairs well with other sun-loving, drought-tolerant plants. Ensure good air circulation around the plant.
Care:
- Watering: Water regularly during dry spells, but avoid overwatering. Ensure soil drains well.
- Pruning: Prune each spring to encourage new, succulent growth for culinary use and to maintain its shape. Regular gathering of leaves also serves this purpose.
- Winter Protection: In areas prone to hard frosts, provide winter protection by mulching around the base or covering the plant with horticultural fleece. In very cold climates, consider growing in a pot that can be moved to a sheltered location.
