Setup, Compatibility & Care
Sowing: Sow seeds thinly directly into prepared soil in spring or autumn. For indoor sowing, start seeds about 4-6 weeks before the last frost date.
Soil: Alyssum prefers well-drained soil but is tolerant of most types, from sandy to clay.
Position: Full sun to partial shade is ideal. While it tolerates shade, flowering may be less abundant.
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist during germination. Once established, water moderately, especially during dry periods.
Deadheading: While not strictly necessary, removing spent flower clusters can encourage a more continuous bloom.
Compatibility: Compatible with most annuals and perennials in mixed borders, rockeries, and containers. It pairs well with plants that have contrasting colors or taller growth habits.
