FAQs
Is the headcollar included with this set?
No, the headcollar is sold separately. This set includes four protective Simuwool pieces to be added to an existing headcollar.
What makes this set ideal for sensitive horses?
The set features high-density imitation lambswool that is ultra-soft, creating a protective barrier that prevents rubbing and chafing on the horse's skin, making it suitable for those prone to sensitivity.
How do I clean the Simuwool headcollar set?
You can machine wash the set at 30 degrees on a cool/delicate cycle. It's recommended to remove dirt with a stiff brush first, close all fasteners, and use a wash bag. Avoid strong cleaning products and always air dry; do not tumble dry.
Can these pieces be used with any type of headcollar?
The Simuwool pieces are designed to fit most standard horse headcollars, providing protection to the cheeks, poll, and nose areas.
What is the purpose of the four pieces in the set?
The four pieces are designed to provide comprehensive protection and comfort by covering the key contact points of the headcollar on the horse's cheeks, poll, and nose, preventing rubbing and enhancing fit.
How should I prepare the set before washing?
Before washing, it is important to remove any loose dirt or mud with a stiff brush and ensure all Velcro fasteners are securely closed to prevent damage during the wash cycle.
What should I do immediately after washing?
After washing, it is recommended to straighten and flatten the Simuwool pieces. Allow them to air dry completely; do not put them in a tumble dryer.
Troubleshooting
Simuwool pieces not staying in place
Ensure all straps on the headcollar are securely fastened and adjusted correctly. Check that the Simuwool pieces are properly attached to their respective points on the headcollar.
Reduced softness after washing
Ensure you followed the care instructions precisely, especially regarding detergent type and drying method. Air drying and avoiding harsh chemicals are crucial for maintaining softness.
Horse still showing signs of irritation
Double-check the fit of the underlying headcollar itself, as well as the placement of the Simuwool pieces. Ensure there are no sharp edges on the headcollar that the padding might not fully cover.
