FAQs

Are these shoes suitable for running?

While based on a 1970s runner, these are designed as lifestyle sneakers and lack the advanced cushioning and support found in modern running shoes.

How should I clean the nylon upper?

Gently wipe the nylon parts with a soft, damp cloth. Do not put these shoes in a washing machine as it can damage the materials.

Does the suede material get damaged by water?

Suede is sensitive to moisture. We recommend using a water-repellent spray specifically for suede to prevent water damage and staining.

Are these true to size?

Yes, the SL72 OG generally fits true to standard adidas sizing. If you prefer a looser fit, you may consider going up half a size.

Can I replace the insoles?

The insoles can generally be removed, allowing for the use of custom orthotics if preferred.

Troubleshooting

Suede looks dull or matted

Use a suede brush in a single direction to lift the nap and restore the texture.

Creasing on the toe box

Use shoe trees when not in use to help maintain the original shape and minimize deep wrinkles.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Authentic archival retro design
Lightweight and breathable materials
Versatile style for casual outfits
Preserves original 1970s proportions

Cons

Minimal cushioning compared to modern foam technology
Not intended for high-impact sports or long-distance running
Suede requires careful maintenance to stay clean

Setup, Compatibility & Care

These trainers fit true to standard adidas sizing for a snug, secure feel. To keep your suede and nylon looking fresh:

Cleaning: Use a soft-bristled brush to remove dry dirt from the suede sections.
Stain Removal: For minor marks on the nylon, use a damp cloth with mild soap; avoid soaking the shoe.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent color fading.
Protection: Apply a suede-safe water repellent spray before initial use to protect against moisture and dirt.
