Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup (Breaking In)
- Initial Wear: Begin by wearing your new Adrian Quad loafers for short periods (1-2 hours) around the house to start softening the leather.
- Thick Socks: Wear thick socks during the break-in phase to protect your feet from rubbing and help stretch the leather.
- Leather Conditioner: Apply a quality leather conditioner, such as Dr. Martens Wonder Balsam, to help soften the leather and make it more pliable. Apply sparingly and massage into the leather.
- Gradual Increase: Gradually increase the wear time each day until the shoes feel comfortable and molded to your feet. This process can take a few weeks.
Compatibility
These platform loafers are highly versatile:
- Casual: Pair with jeans, shorts, or casual dresses for an elevated everyday look.
- Edgy Fashion: Combine with band t-shirts, leather jackets, or distressed denim for a classic counterculture aesthetic.
- Smart Casual: Can be dressed up with tailored trousers, skirts, or button-down shirts for a distinctive twist on office or evening wear.
Care Instructions
- Regular Cleaning: Wipe down the polished Smooth leather regularly with a damp cloth to remove dirt and dust. For tougher grime, use a specialized Dr. Martens cleaner.
- Conditioning: Apply Dr. Martens Wonder Balsam or a similar high-quality leather conditioner every few months (or as needed) to keep the leather supple, prevent drying and cracking, and maintain its polished finish.
- Polishing (Optional): For an extra shine and to cover minor scuffs, use a black shoe polish. Apply a small amount, buff gently, and then polish to a high shine.
- Avoid Waterlogging: While durable, leather is not waterproof. Avoid prolonged exposure to heavy rain or standing water. If they get wet, stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and let them air dry naturally away from direct heat.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Use shoe trees to help maintain their shape.
