Setup, Compatibility & Care
Breaking In Your Wallabees
While the leather is soft, new shoes often benefit from a short breaking-in period. Wear your Wallabees for shorter durations initially to allow the leather to adapt to your foot shape. The natural crepe sole will also become more flexible with wear.
Compatibility
- Outfit Compatibility: The Wallabee's minimalist yet distinctive design makes it highly compatible with a wide range of clothing, from denim and chinos to more tailored casual wear. Its brown (beeswax) leather complements earthy tones, blues, and neutral palettes.
- Environmental Compatibility: Best suited for dry to moderately damp conditions. The natural crepe sole is known for its comfort on hard surfaces but can be susceptible to damage or reduced grip on very wet or abrasive terrains.
Product Care
Proper care will extend the life and maintain the appearance of your Wallabees.
- Leather Upper Care:
- Cleaning: Gently wipe the leather upper with a soft, damp cloth to remove surface dirt. For deeper cleaning, use a specialized leather cleaner.
- Conditioning: Apply a high-quality leather conditioner periodically to keep the leather soft, supple, and prevent drying or cracking. Follow the product instructions for application.
- Protection: Consider using a leather protector spray to guard against water and stains, especially before wearing in inclement weather.
- Crepe Sole Care:
- Cleaning: The natural crepe sole can pick up dirt and become sticky. Use a soft brush or a specialized crepe sole cleaning block to gently remove debris and rejuvenate the surface.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use harsh chemical cleaners on the crepe sole as it can degrade the material.
- Storage: Store shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Consider using shoe trees to help maintain their shape.
- Laces and Fobs: Check laces periodically for wear and replace if necessary. The branded fobs can be cleaned with a damp cloth if they become soiled.
