Yes, the New Balance 550 generally fits true to standard sizing, though the leather construction may feel snug during the initial break-in period.
While based on a basketball silhouette, these are lifestyle trainers and are not intended for competitive athletic performance.
Use a dedicated leather cleaning solution and a soft cloth, working in gentle circular motions rather than scrubbing harshly.
Yes, because of the leather upper, it may take a few wears for the material to soften and conform to your foot shape.
While the leather provides some protection, it is recommended to apply a water-repellent spray to protect the materials from moisture.
Creasing is a natural result of leather flexibility; use shoe trees when not in use to help the shoe maintain its original shape.
Use a specialized leather cleaner or a white eraser for light scuffs to maintain the clean aesthetic.
Ensure the laces are tightened evenly from the base upward; double-knotting is recommended if you have a high-motion day.
To ensure the longevity of your New Balance 550s, avoid machine washing. For regular maintenance, use a soft-bristled brush to remove surface dirt and a damp cloth with mild soap for spot cleaning. If the leather becomes wet, allow it to air dry naturally away from direct heat sources to prevent cracking. Store the shoes in a cool, dry place to maintain their structural integrity.
