Setup, Compatibility & Care
To maximize the life of your Mafate 5 hiking shoes, ensure they are properly laced to secure the midfoot before hitting the trail. If using the optional ankle gaiters, attach them according to the shoe's integrated alignment points to prevent sliding. For maintenance, remove loose mud after each hike using a soft brush. If the shoes become saturated, stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and allow them to air dry away from direct heat sources, which can degrade the midsole foam. Avoid machine washing, as the agitation can compromise the integrity of the adhesive and structural components.
