Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Getting started with your Karrimor Summit Walking Shoes is straightforward:
- Lace Up: Fully unlace the shoes to allow your foot to slide in comfortably.
- Insert Foot: Place your foot inside the shoe, ensuring your heel is seated correctly.
- Adjust Laces: Begin lacing from the bottom, pulling firmly but not too tightly, ensuring an even tension across your foot. The goal is a snug, secure fit without any pressure points.
- Double Knot: Secure the laces with a double knot to prevent them from coming undone during your walk.
Compatibility
These shoes are designed for:
- Terrain: Best suited for paved paths, gravel trails, well-maintained dirt paths, and urban environments.
- Weather: Ideal for dry to mildly damp conditions. The breathable mesh is great for warmer weather.
- Activity: Light walks, daily errands, casual outdoor activities, and short, easy hikes.
They may not be the best choice for:
- Heavy Backpacking: For carrying heavy loads over long distances, more robust support might be needed.
- Extreme Terrain: Steep, rocky, or technical trails may require shoes with stiffer soles and ankle support.
- Very Wet Conditions: As water resistance isn't a primary feature, heavy rain or deep puddles should be avoided to keep feet dry.
Care Instructions
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your walking shoes:
- Cleaning: After each use, especially if dirty, brush off loose dirt with a soft brush. For stubborn mud, wipe with a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Drying: Always air dry your shoes at room temperature, away from direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, which can damage materials. You can stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and maintain shape.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Ensure they are clean and dry before storing to prevent mildew and odor.
- Lace Maintenance: Periodically check laces for fraying and replace if necessary to maintain a secure fit.
- Insole Care: Remove and air out Ortholite insoles occasionally to keep them fresh. They can be hand-washed with mild soap and air-dried.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Do not machine wash or tumble dry, as this can damage the shoe's structure and materials.
