Product Information

Full details

The NGT Grippz is designed for carp anglers who require a reliable and secure rod retention system during intense fishing sessions. Its primary benefit is the spring-loaded clamp mechanism that prevents the rod from being pulled from the rest during aggressive takes, while ensuring a snag-free release when you strike. One caveat to keep in mind is that while the device is highly versatile, it is specifically optimized for rod diameters between 15mm and 25mm, so users with ultra-thin or custom-thick handles should verify measurements before use.

FAQs

Will this work with all carp rods?

It is compatible with most standard carp rods provided the handle diameter is between 15mm and 25mm.

Can I use this on a standard bank stick?

Yes, the NGT Grippz features a universal thread that fits all standard bank sticks and rod pods.

Does it cause damage to the rod handle?

No, the contact points are designed to be firm yet gentle, providing a secure grip without marking the rod blank or handle.

Is this product suitable for long-distance fishing?

Yes, it is excellent for long-distance fishing where rod stability is critical during high-tension bites.

Do I need any tools to attach it?

No tools are required. Simply screw it onto your bank stick by hand until it is secure.

Troubleshooting

The rod feels loose in the rest

Verify the rod butt diameter is at least 15mm. If it is smaller, the clamp will not have enough pressure to grip the handle securely.

The rod is difficult to remove when striking

Ensure you are lifting the rod straight up or slightly forward rather than pulling sideways; the mechanism is designed for a vertical release.

The clamp mechanism feels gritty or stiff

Rinse the unit with warm water to remove debris or sand buildup from the pivot points and allow it to air dry.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Secure rod retention during heavy bites
Allows for smooth, fluid striking
Self-adjusting fit for various handle sizes
Durable construction for long-term reliability

Cons

Not suitable for rods outside the 15mm-25mm range
Requires slight upward pressure to release correctly
More complex mechanism than basic "U" rest heads

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Installation is straightforward as the NGT Grippz uses a standard universal thread compatible with all bank sticks, buzz bars, and rod pods. To install, simply screw the base onto your bankware until tight.

Regarding compatibility, ensure your rod handle diameter falls between 15mm and 25mm to ensure the spring clamp functions as intended. For care, keep the spring mechanism free of grit and mud; if the rest becomes clogged after a muddy session, rinse it with clean water and allow it to dry fully to maintain the smooth action of the internal spring.
