Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
- Lacing: Ensure laces are threaded evenly and tied securely to provide a snug, comfortable fit without being too tight, which can restrict circulation.
- Break-in Period: While designed for comfort, a short break-in period (a few short runs) can help the shoe conform to your foot.
Compatibility
- Footwear: Optimized for standard athletic socks. Avoid overly thick or cotton socks that can reduce breathability and increase friction.
- Activity: Best suited for road running and light athletic activities. Less compatible with sports requiring significant lateral movement or heavy impact.
Product Care
Proper care extends the life and maintains the appearance of your Nike Initiator shoes:
- Cleaning the Upper: For the mesh, use a soft brush (like an old toothbrush) and a solution of mild soap (e.g., dish soap) and warm water. Gently scrub the mesh and leather overlays. Wipe with a clean, damp cloth.
- Cleaning the Sole: Use a stiff brush or old toothbrush to remove dirt and debris from the outsole.
- Drying: Always air dry your shoes at room temperature, away from direct sunlight or heat sources (like radiators), which can damage materials and adhesives. Do not use a machine dryer.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Avoid leaving them in direct sunlight or extreme temperatures for prolonged periods.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Do not machine wash or submerge the entire shoe in water, as this can degrade materials, adhesives, and compromise the shoe's structure.
