FAQs
Is this fleece waterproof?
No, this fleece is designed for warmth and insulation, not for rain protection. It should be worn under a waterproof layer during wet conditions.
Can I wear this in extreme cold?
It serves best as an insulating mid-layer. In extreme cold, it is recommended to pair this with a base layer and an outer windproof or insulated jacket.
How many pockets does it have?
The garment includes three secure zip pockets, including one chest pocket for quick access.
What is the primary material?
The North Half Zip Fleece is made from high-performance polyester.
Is the material breathable?
Yes, the polyester construction offers good breathability, and the half-zip feature allows for further airflow adjustment.
How should I store the fleece in the off-season?
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Ensure the garment is clean before storing to prevent attracting insects or mildew.
Troubleshooting
Zipper is sticking or stiff
Clear any debris or fabric fibers caught in the zipper teeth and apply a small amount of graphite or specialized zipper lubricant.
Pilling on fabric surface
Use a fabric shaver or a dedicated pilling comb to gently remove small balls of fiber that may accumulate over time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Excellent warmth-to-weight ratio for comfortable layering
- Effective ventilation via the half-zip neck opening
- Ample storage with three secure zippered pockets
- Versatile design suitable for both technical trails and casual wear
- Easy to stow in a backpack when not in use
Cons
- Not windproof or waterproof for extreme weather conditions
- Polyester fabric may attract static in very dry environments
- Limited to a casual or activewear aesthetic
Setup, Compatibility & Care
Because this is a technical fleece, proper care is essential to maintain its insulating properties and fabric integrity.
- Care: Machine wash in cold or warm water with a mild detergent. Avoid fabric softeners as they can clog the synthetic fibers and reduce breathability.
- Drying: Air dry whenever possible to prevent shrinkage and maintain the fabric's loft. If you must use a machine, select a low-heat, delicate cycle.
- Compatibility: The slim-cut nature of the fleece allows it to be worn comfortably underneath a heavier waterproof shell or a parka without creating excessive friction or restricted motion.
