The Merrell Intercept Walking Shoe is designed for adult males seeking a durable and comfortable shoe for daily walks, light hiking, and casual wear. Its key strength lies in its robust full grain leather construction combined with a high-traction Vibram sole, offering reliability across varied terrains. While exceptionally well-suited for its intended purpose, users should note that as a leather shoe, it may require a short break-in period to achieve optimal comfort.

The Merrell Intercept features a full grain leather upper. While leather offers some natural water resistance, these shoes are not explicitly designed or marketed as fully waterproof. For wet conditions, consider treating the leather with a suitable water repellent.
To clean the leather, gently wipe off dirt and debris with a soft, damp cloth. For more persistent stains, use a dedicated leather cleaner applied sparingly according to the product's instructions. Always allow the shoes to air dry completely away from direct heat.
These shoes are ideal for everyday walking, light to moderate hiking on trails, urban exploration, and general casual wear. Their design balances durability, comfort, and traction for diverse, non-extreme environments.
As they feature a full grain leather upper, a short break-in period is often beneficial. Wear them for shorter durations initially to allow the leather to soften and mold to the unique shape of your foot, ensuring maximum comfort.
Typically, the insoles in Merrell walking shoes are designed to be removable. This allows for easier cleaning and aeration of the shoe's interior, and also accommodates custom orthotics if needed.
Vibram TC5+ is a high-performance rubber compound developed by Vibram, specifically engineered to provide optimal grip, traction, and durability across a wide range of temperatures and surfaces, enhancing the shoe's performance in outdoor conditions.
Often caused by friction between the insole and the shoe's footbed. Try removing the insole, sprinkling a small amount of baby powder or cornstarch inside the shoe, and then replacing the insole. Ensure laces are tied securely.
Ensure you are wearing appropriate socks. Adjust your lacing technique to better secure your foot without being too tight. For new leather shoes, allow for a break-in period; wear them for short durations initially to let the leather conform to your foot.
While the Vibram TC5+ sole offers excellent grip, no sole is entirely slip-proof. Check the sole for excessive wear or debris lodged in the treads. Clean the sole thoroughly. Exercise caution on extremely wet or icy surfaces.
Remove insoles after each use to allow the shoes to air out. If odor persists, wash insoles (if removable and washable) with mild soap and water, or use a shoe deodorizer spray or cedar shoe inserts.
