Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: The Darlac DP30 pruners come ready for use. The primary adjustment is the blade tension, which can be fine-tuned using the central pivot bolt. For initial setup or after sharpening, ensure the blade moves freely but without excessive play. Rotate the adjustment screw or nut located around the pivot bolt to achieve the desired tension – a smooth, decisive cut with minimal resistance is the goal.
Compatibility: This pruner is designed for general pruning of live plant material. It is compatible with most common garden plants, shrubs, and young trees up to a 25mm diameter. It is not intended for cutting metal, wire, or excessively hard/old wood that exceeds its capacity.
Care:
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe the blades clean with a damp cloth to remove sap and debris. For stubborn residue, a mild soap solution can be used, followed by thorough rinsing and drying.
- Sharpening: The high-carbon steel blade should be sharpened regularly using a sharpening stone or file. Maintain the original bevel angle for optimal cutting performance.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a light lubricant (like mineral oil or specialized tool oil) to the pivot and locking mechanism to ensure smooth operation and prevent rust.
- Storage: Store the pruners in a dry place, preferably with the blades closed and secured by the locking mechanism. Avoid exposure to prolonged moisture or corrosive environments.
