FAQs

What is the primary material of the Etta lamp shade?

The Valuelights Etta lamp shade is made with a natural linen fabric.

What size lamp holders does this shade fit?

It has a 4cm opening for E27 lamp holders and includes a reducer ring to fit E14 lamp holders (3cm opening).

How do I clean the natural linen shade?

Gently dust with a dry cloth. For tougher marks, use a slightly damp cloth and test in an inconspicuous area first. Avoid harsh chemicals.

What is the diameter of the Etta lamp shade?

The Etta lamp shade has an oversized diameter of 60cm.

Can I use any type of bulb with this shade?

Yes, it is suitable for use with LED or incandescent bulbs, respecting the maximum wattage recommended for your specific lamp fitting.

Does the shade come with a light fitting or bulb?

No, the shade is sold separately and does not include a light fitting or bulb.

What effect does the linen shade have on the light?

The natural linen diffuses light softly, creating a warm, cozy, and inviting glow rather than a harsh glare.

Troubleshooting

Shade does not fit lamp holder

Verify if you are using the correct opening (4cm for E27, 3cm with reducer for E14). Ensure the reducer ring is correctly inserted if needed.

Light appears uneven or too dim

Consider the wattage and type of bulb used. A higher lumen (brighter) bulb or a frosted bulb may provide better illumination. Ensure the shade is centered over the bulb.

Shade feels unstable on the fitting

Check that the shade is fully seated on the lamp holder and that any securing mechanism (if present on the fitting) is engaged. Do not overtighten.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Creates a warm and inviting atmosphere.
  • The large size makes a strong design statement.
  • Natural linen texture adds organic warmth.
  • Compatible with both E27 and E14 lamp holders.
  • Diffuses light softly for a gentle illumination.

Cons

  • Requires a large space to avoid overwhelming the room.
  • Natural linen may require gentle cleaning to maintain appearance.
  • The statement size might not suit minimalist or small-scale decor.
  • Bulb not included, requiring a separate purchase.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

  1. Ensure the light fitting is turned off at the mains.
  2. Carefully remove any existing shade.
  3. The Etta shade has a 4cm opening designed to fit standard E27 lamp holders. Place the shade over the bulb and secure it to the lamp holder.
  4. If your lamp holder is an E14 type (smaller fitting), insert the provided reducer ring into the shade's opening before attaching it to the lamp holder.
  5. Once securely fitted, turn the power back on.

Compatibility:

  • Lamp Holder Size: Compatible with E27 (4cm opening) and E14 (3cm opening with reducer ring) lamp holders.
  • Bulb Type: Suitable for use with LED or incandescent bulbs. Maximum wattage should not exceed the recommendation for the lamp holder itself (typically 60W, check bulb packaging).

Care:

  • To clean, first switch off the light and allow the shade to cool completely.
  • Gently dust the shade regularly with a soft, dry cloth or a feather duster.
  • For stubborn marks, use a slightly damp cloth, being careful not to saturate the fabric. Always test on an inconspicuous area first.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the linen texture.
