FAQs

Are these shoes true to size?

Yes, the Nike Tennis Classic generally fits true to standard adult sizing.

Can I play professional tennis in these?

While originally designed as a tennis shoe in 1982, modern athletic technology has surpassed this design. It is recommended for casual lifestyle use rather than competitive sports.

Is the material waterproof?

The leather offers some resistance to light moisture, but they are not waterproof and should not be submerged or worn in heavy rain.

How do I clean the rubber outsole?

A soft-bristled brush with mild soap and water is effective at cleaning the herringbone tread.

What is the secondary colour?

This specific version features Green Gorge secondary accents.

Troubleshooting

Creasing on the leather upper

Use cedar shoe trees when not wearing to help maintain the structure and minimize deep creases.

Difficulty keeping the white leather clean

Keep a pack of sneaker-specific cleaning wipes in your bag for immediate touch-ups during the day.

Stiff feel when first worn

Leather requires a brief break-in period; wear them for short durations indoors to soften the material.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Timeless, versatile design that pairs well with many outfits
Durable leather construction for long-term wear
Excellent grip provided by the herringbone outsole
Lightweight and low-profile for all-day comfort

Cons

Leather material is not as breathable as modern mesh trainers
Not specifically designed for high-impact sports performance
White colourway requires frequent cleaning to maintain appearance

Setup, Compatibility & Care

As these are low-top sneakers, they require no special setup beyond standard lacing to fit your foot shape. For leather maintenance, wipe away surface dirt with a soft, damp cloth immediately after exposure to mud or spills. We recommend using a leather-safe conditioner periodically to prevent cracking. To preserve the crisp white aesthetic, treat the exterior with a water and stain repellent spray suitable for leather. Always air dry the shoes away from direct heat sources to prevent the material from warping.
