Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
The Gelert Horizon Waterproof Walking Shoes feature a classic lacing system. To set them up for first use:
- Loosen the laces adequately to allow your foot to slide in easily.
- Slide your foot into the shoe, utilizing the pull loop at the heel for assistance to guide your foot in.
- Adjust the laces from the toes upwards, ensuring an even, snug fit across your foot without being uncomfortably tight.
- Tie your laces securely to prevent them from coming undone during activity.
Compatibility
These shoes are designed for versatility in various outdoor settings:
- Terrain: Best suited for trail walks, park paths, gravel, and general outdoor errands. The rugged outsole provides traction on varied, non-extreme surfaces.
- Weather: The waterproof membrane makes them compatible with damp and wet conditions, including light rain and dewy environments. They are not intended for full submersion.
- Activities: Ideal for day hikes, dog walking, gardening, and general outdoor use where comfort and dryness are priorities.
Care
To maintain the longevity and performance of your Gelert Horizon Walking Shoes:
- Cleaning: Clean the synthetic upper with a soft damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, strong detergents, or abrasive brushes, as these can damage the waterproof membrane and the shoe's materials.
- Drying: If the shoes become wet inside or out, allow them to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators, fireplaces, or tumble dryers, as high heat can damage the materials and adhesives, potentially compromising the waterproof seal.
- Storage: Store shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Ensure they are clean and dry before storing.
- Laces: Periodically inspect laces for signs of wear and fraying. Replace them if necessary to ensure a secure and reliable fit.
