Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
Proper setup, compatibility considerations, and ongoing care will maximise the lifespan and performance of your Karrimor Mount Walking Shoes.
Setup
- Initial Fit: Before your first extended walk, wear the shoes indoors for short periods to allow them to conform to your feet. While the cushioned design minimises break-in time, a brief adjustment period is beneficial.
- Lacing: Utilise the full lace-up front to achieve a secure yet comfortable fit. Ensure laces are tied firmly to prevent slipping and reduce the risk of tripping.
Compatibility
- Socks: For optimal comfort and moisture management, pair these walking shoes with good quality walking socks. Look for socks made from wool or synthetic blends that wick moisture away from your feet to prevent blisters.
- Activity: These shoes are best suited for light to moderate walking, day hiking, and general outdoor use. For highly technical terrain, deep water crossings, or carrying heavy packs, consider footwear designed for those specific demands.
Care
- Post-Use Cleaning: After each outing, especially in muddy conditions, gently remove loose dirt and debris from the suede leather / textile upper and Dynagrip sole unit using a soft brush or damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Drying: Allow your shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Never use direct heat sources like radiators, fireplaces, or direct sunlight, as this can damage the materials, cause cracking, and compromise the integrity of the Weathertite membrane.
- Waterproofing Maintenance: While the internal membrane is durable, the external Durable Water Repellent (DWR) coating on the suede/leather upper will wear off over time. Periodically apply a suitable waterproofing spray or treatment designed for outdoor footwear with suede and textile components. Follow the product manufacturer's instructions.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight when not in use. You can stuff them with newspaper to help absorb moisture and maintain their shape.
