Yes, the Nike ACG Mountain Fly 2 Low GTX features a Gore-Tex membrane in the upper, which provides reliable waterproof and windproof protection while remaining breathable.
These shoes are ideal for outdoor activities such as hiking, trail walking, and general adventuring in varying weather conditions, particularly where waterproof protection and good traction are needed.
The toggle lacing system allows for quick and easy adjustment. You simply pull the laces to tighten them and then push the toggle down to lock them securely in place. To loosen, pinch the toggle and pull the laces up.
React Foam is Nike's proprietary cushioning technology designed to deliver a soft, springy, and durable ride. It provides excellent energy return and comfort, making it suitable for long periods of wear.
No, it is not recommended to machine wash these shoes as it can damage the Gore-Tex membrane, React Foam, and adhesive bonds. Instead, clean them by hand using a soft brush, mild soap, and water.
While they offer cushioning, these shoes are designed more for hiking and walking on varied terrain due to their robust construction and outsole pattern, rather than high-performance running.
Regular cleaning as described in the care instructions will help. Additionally, over time, the outer durable water repellent (DWR) finish might wear off. You can reapply a DWR treatment specifically designed for Gore-Tex footwear to restore water repellency.
While Gore-Tex is breathable, it offers waterproof protection. Ensure you are wearing appropriate moisture-wicking socks (e.g., wool or synthetic blends) to help manage perspiration. Avoid cotton socks, which retain moisture. In very hot conditions, the waterproof membrane may limit overall ventilation.
Ensure the laces are fully tightened by pulling them firmly through the toggle. After tightening, press the toggle firmly downwards to lock it in place. If the toggle mechanism itself is faulty, inspect it for debris or damage; otherwise, contact customer support.
Check the outsole for accumulated dirt or debris that might be reducing traction. Clean the treads thoroughly with a stiff brush and water. Also, inspect the outsole for signs of excessive wear; significant wear can reduce grip over time, indicating it might be time for replacement if safety is compromised.
The Nike ACG Mountain Fly 2 Low GTX may require a short break-in period. Wear them for shorter durations around the house or on light walks to allow the materials, especially the upper, to soften and mold to your foot shape. Ensure your socks are not too thick, which can contribute to a tight feel.
