FAQs
Are these shoes water-resistant?
No, the mesh upper is designed for breathability and will allow water to pass through.
Can I replace the memory foam insoles?
The insoles are designed to be part of the shoe structure, but they can be removed if you need to insert custom orthotics.
Are these suitable for heavy-duty construction sites?
While they feature a slip-resistant outsole, they do not include a steel or composite toe cap for heavy impact protection.
How do I clean the mesh upper?
Use a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid putting them in a washing machine, as high heat and heavy agitation can damage the materials.
Do the stretch laces lose their elasticity?
With proper care, they are designed to maintain tension for the life of the shoe, but avoid overstretching them when putting the shoes on.
Is the size UK 9 true to fit?
Skechers generally follow standard sizing; however, fit can vary by individual. It is recommended to use your standard athletic shoe size.
Troubleshooting
Shoes feel too loose after a period of wear
Since the laces are fixed, consider inserting a thin, supportive aftermarket insole under the existing memory foam to take up extra space.
Outsole losing traction
Check the tread for debris or buildup. Clean the sole with a stiff brush and water to restore the grip pattern.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Excellent impact protection from the Skech-Air midsole
- Slip-resistant tread enhances workplace safety
- Highly breathable upper material reduces moisture build-up
- Memory foam insole offers personalized comfort and support
Cons
- Fixed stretch laces cannot be tightened for a custom fit
- Primarily designed for work, which may limit casual styling options
- Mesh material may not be water-resistant in outdoor conditions
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your Skechers trainers remain in top condition, follow these guidelines. Since the shoes feature fixed stretch laces, no initial setup is required; simply slide your feet in and the shoe will contour to your foot shape. Keep the shoes clean by wiping the mesh upper with a soft cloth or a gentle brush to remove dust. If the shoes become wet, allow them to air dry naturally away from direct heat sources to preserve the integrity of the foam and glue. For optimal performance, replace the trainers if the slip-resistant tread becomes visibly worn or smooth.
