Setup, Compatibility & Care
Preparation: Ensure the wood surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, or old finishes. If stripping old finishes, sand the wood smooth. For new wood, a light sanding is recommended.
Application: Apply Osmo Top Oil thinly and evenly using a brush, roller, or lint-free cloth. Work in the direction of the wood grain. Remove any excess oil that has not penetrated within 10-20 minutes. For optimal protection, apply a second thin coat after 8-10 hours of drying.
Drying: Allow 8-10 hours of drying time between coats in a well-ventilated area at around 20°C (68°F). Full curing for high-traffic areas like floors can take 2-3 weeks, during which time it's advisable to protect the surface from heavy use and excessive moisture.
Compatibility: Suitable for most common wood types, including hardwoods and softwoods. It can be used on furniture, kitchen worktops, tables, doors, and shelving. Not recommended for use on veneers or surfaces that require a high-gloss finish.
Care: Clean the surface regularly with a damp cloth. For tougher stains, use a mild, pH-neutral soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners or excessive water. For maintenance, a single thin coat of Osmo Top Oil can be applied as needed, without the need for sanding.
