FAQs

Can I wear these as my only pair of shorts?

No, these are designed as an under-short base layer for impact protection and are not intended to be worn as standalone outer shorts.

Are these shorts suitable for road cycling?

While they provide comfort, they are specifically optimized for mountain biking and include protective foam that is unnecessary for typical road cycling.

Do I need to wear underwear with these?

No, the integrated chamois is designed to be worn directly against the skin to minimize chafing.

How do I choose the right size?

The shorts use a compression fit; you should choose your standard size, ensuring a snug feel that does not restrict circulation.

Will the padding protect me in a major crash?

These shorts provide supplemental protection against bumps and minor impacts but are not a substitute for proper riding technique or certified safety equipment.

Troubleshooting

Shorts shifting during a ride

Ensure the silicone printing on the leg cuffs is in direct contact with your skin and check that the size is not too large, which prevents the compression fit from working.

Feeling discomfort from seams

Check that the garment is worn properly against the skin without any base layers underneath that could cause friction or bunching.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Excellent low-profile impact protection for hips and tailbone
Highly flexible articulated construction allows full range of motion
Moisture-wicking polyester fabric keeps the skin dry
Silicone grips on cuffs prevent uncomfortable bunching
Designed to fit seamlessly under standard mountain bike shorts

Cons

Not intended for use as standalone outerwear
Padding may feel bulky to riders unused to protective base layers
Specific fit requires accurate sizing for the compression to be effective

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure maximum effectiveness, verify the fit is snug across the hips; if the shorts are too loose, the protective padding will not stay in the correct anatomical position during a fall. These shorts are compatible with all standard mountain bike apparel. To maintain the integrity of the foam and the elasticity of the fabric, machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle. Always hang dry the shorts to prevent heat damage to the silicone grips and foam components, as high dryer temperatures can degrade the material performance.
