Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Preparation: Before use, ensure the wood surface is clean, dry, and free from any old finishes. Sand the wood to create a smooth surface, and remove any dust.
- Application: Apply the wood dye evenly using a brush or cloth. For a more subtle effect, apply a single coat. For a deeper colour, apply multiple coats, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next.
- Drying: Allow the dye to dry completely. Drying times may vary depending on the product and environmental conditions. Refer to the product label for specific instructions.
- Topcoat: Once dry, apply a protective topcoat to seal the colour and protect the wood. Consider using Rustins products for optimal results.
Compatibility
Rustins Wood Dye is compatible with most types of bare wood. Test the dye on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure you achieve the desired colour. It is also compatible with a wide variety of topcoats, including varnish, lacquer, and oil-based finishes.
Care
Clean the surface with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish. Regular dusting and occasional polishing will help maintain the wood's appearance.
