Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your Terrex Free Hiker 2 lasts for many seasons, proper care is essential.
- Break-in: Before starting a long expedition, wear the shoes on short local walks to allow the material to flex and conform to your foot.
- Cleaning: After muddy hikes, remove the insoles and wipe the exterior with a soft brush and lukewarm water. Avoid using harsh detergents.
- Drying: Air dry the shoes naturally in a shaded, well-ventilated area. Never place them directly on a heat source like a radiator, as this can degrade the glues and materials.
- Storage: Store in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight to prevent material aging and color fading.
- Compatibility: These shoes work well with standard hiking socks; for maximum performance, pair them with moisture-wicking synthetic or wool-blend socks to optimize the breathability of the shoe.
