FAQs

What type of bulb does the Hector Bibendum wall light use?

It uses a standard E27 (Edison Screw) bulb. Please refer to the product specifications for the maximum wattage allowed.

Can I choose the cable color?

Yes, the Hector Bibendum wall light is available with different coloured cotton braided cables to suit your decor.

Is the light dimmable?

Dimmability depends on the type of bulb used and whether a dimmer switch is installed. If you use a dimmable bulb and a compatible dimmer switch, the light can be dimmed.

What are the dimensions of the wall light?

Specific dimensions can be found in the detailed product specifications, which typically include the shade diameter, stem length, and projection from the wall.

Is this light suitable for a bathroom?

This light is designed for indoor use and is not rated for bathroom environments unless specified. Always check the IP rating for suitability in damp areas.

How do I clean the bone china shade?

Use a soft, dry cloth for regular dusting. For marks, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid abrasive cleaners.

Troubleshooting

Light does not turn on

Check if the bulb is correctly fitted and not burnt out. Ensure the power source is active and the switch is in the 'on' position. For plug-in versions, verify the socket is working and the plug is securely inserted. For hardwired versions, check the circuit breaker and consult an electrician if necessary.

Flickering light

This could be due to a loose bulb, a faulty bulb, or an issue with the electrical connection. Try tightening the bulb, replacing it with a new one, or checking the wiring if you are comfortable and have electrical knowledge (otherwise, consult an electrician).

Shade feels loose

Gently tighten any screws or fittings securing the shade and stem. Do not overtighten, as this could damage the bone china.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

Installation will depend on the chosen configuration (switched, unswitched, or with plug). For switched and unswitched versions, professional electrician installation is recommended to ensure safety and compliance with local building codes. The plug-in version can be set up by simply plugging into a suitable wall socket.

Compatibility:

This wall light is compatible with standard E27 (Edison Screw) bulbs. The maximum wattage should not exceed that specified by the bulb type (typically indicated on the light fitting itself or in the product manual). It is designed for indoor use only.

Care:

  • Always ensure the light is switched off and cool before cleaning.
  • Dust the bone china shade and stem regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For stubborn marks on the shade, use a slightly damp cloth and wipe dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Clean the braided cable with a dry or very slightly damp cloth, taking care not to saturate it.
  • Regularly check the bulb fitting for dust or debris.
