Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Lacing: Upon receiving, ensure laces are threaded correctly and adjust for a comfortable, snug fit.
- First Wear: Wear them indoors initially to confirm fit and comfort. Note that while the leather lining will mold slightly, velvet has less give than traditional leather or synthetic uppers.
Compatibility
- Apparel: Highly versatile with casual wear such as jeans, chinos, shorts, skirts, dresses, and tracksuits. The rich red/maroon colorway pairs well with neutrals, blacks, whites, and even complementary blues or greens.
- Occasions: Ideal for casual events, social gatherings, urban exploration, and everyday fashion. Not suitable for formal events, demanding sports, or heavy outdoor work.
Care Instructions
Velvet requires specific care to maintain its luxurious appearance.
- Spot Clean: For small marks, gently dab with a soft, clean, damp (not wet) cloth. Use a mild soap solution if necessary, then wipe with a clean damp cloth to remove residue.
- Brush Gently: Use a soft-bristle brush (like a suede brush or soft toothbrush) to gently brush the velvet nap in one direction to restore its texture.
- Avoid Water Saturation: Do not soak the shoes. Excess water can damage the velvet and potentially cause color bleeding.
- Air Dry: Allow shoes to air dry completely at room temperature, away from direct heat or sunlight.
- Sole Cleaning: Use a damp cloth or a soft brush with mild soap to clean the gum sole.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Consider using shoe trees to help maintain their shape.
- Protection: Apply a specialized velvet protector spray before first wear and periodically thereafter to help repel water and stains. Info needed: [Recommend specific velvet protector brands/types]
