Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Adjust Shoulder Straps: Loosen all straps first. Place the pack on your child's back. Tighten the shoulder straps until the pack feels snug against their back, ensuring the load is close to the body.
- Adjust Sternum Strap: Fasten the sternum strap across the chest. This strap helps stabilize the pack and keeps the shoulder straps from sliding off. It can be moved up or down for comfort.
- Check Fit: Ensure the pack sits comfortably and does not obstruct your child's movement. The bottom of the pack should rest just above their hips.
Compatibility
The Osprey Jet 18 is specifically designed for kids (unisex) and is ideal for day-hiking, school, and general outdoor exploration. Its capacity and features are optimized for carrying children's essentials like snacks, water, a light jacket, and small treasures. It is not designed for adult use or carrying heavy loads.
Care
- Cleaning: The pack is made from durable nylon. For minor dirt, spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. For more thorough cleaning, hand wash in a tub with cool water and a gentle soap. Do not use harsh detergents or bleach.
- Drying: Hang the pack upside down in a shaded, well-ventilated area to air dry completely. Avoid direct sunlight or using a machine dryer, as this can damage the fabric and coatings.
- Storage: Store the pack in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use to prolong its lifespan. Ensure it is completely dry before storing to prevent mildew.
