FAQs
Are these ASICS GEL-1130 trainers suitable for running?
While based on retro performance designs, these are intended primarily for lifestyle and casual wear rather than intense distance running.
How should I clean the white mesh?
Use a soft brush with a mild soap solution. Avoid soaking the shoes and let them air dry away from heat.
Are these true to size?
Yes, they generally fit true to standard UK sizing for adult men.
Can I replace the insoles?
Yes, the insoles are removable and can be swapped for custom orthotics if required.
Are they waterproof?
No, the open-hole mesh construction is designed for breathability, meaning they are not waterproof.
Troubleshooting
Visible dirt on the white mesh
Gently scrub with a soft-bristled brush dipped in a mixture of water and mild detergent, then pat dry with a clean cloth.
Laces coming undone frequently
Ensure you are using a double knot or a secure reef knot, or consider replacing them with high-friction performance laces.
Minor creasing on synthetic overlays
Use shoe trees when not in use to help the trainers maintain their shape.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Lightweight and breathable materials
- Effective GEL cushioning for daily comfort
- Versatile design suitable for various casual outfits
- Durable rubber sole for long-term wear
Cons
- Best suited for casual use rather than performance running
- White upper requires regular maintenance to stay clean
- Synthetic materials may feel less premium than full leather alternatives
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your ASICS GEL-1130 trainers stay in optimal condition, treat the synthetic and mesh exterior with a protective spray before the first use to repel dirt and moisture. When the shoes become dirty, avoid machine washing; instead, spot clean the mesh and overlays with a soft brush and mild soap solution. Allow them to air dry naturally away from direct heat sources to prevent material warping. For the best fit, ensure you select your standard UK adult size, as the lacing system provides ample room for adjustments depending on your preferred level of tightness.
