Full details
The Nalgene Silo Wide Mouth Sustain Water Bottle is designed for outdoor enthusiasts, hikers, and campers who require a high-capacity hydration solution without the bulk of traditional gallon jugs. Its primary benefit is the combination of a 1.5-litre volume with an eco-conscious build made from 50% recycled plastic, though users should note that its wider profile may require specifically sized or expandable side pockets on certain backpacks.

While Tritan is heat resistant, it is not recommended for boiling water or direct exposure to extreme heat sources.
Where is this bottle manufactured?
The Nalgene Silo Sustain bottle is proudly made in the USA.
Can I use carbonated beverages in this bottle?
Yes, Nalgene bottles are safe for carbonated drinks, but ensure the lid is properly secured to maintain pressure.
Troubleshooting
The cap feels difficult to thread
Check the threads for cross-threading or debris. Ensure the cap is aligned perfectly before turning clockwise.
Bottle leaks when tipped
Ensure the cap is tightened fully. Inspect the interior of the lid for the plastic seal ring; if it has fallen out, it must be replaced to ensure a leakproof fit.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Large 1.5-litre volume for fewer refills
- Eco-friendly construction using Tritan Renew
- Compatible with most water filtration systems
- Extremely durable and impact-resistant
- Easy to clean due to the wide opening
Cons
- Wider diameter may not fit all standard cup holders
- Requires larger backpack side pockets
- Lacks an integrated carry handle or straw lid
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the longevity of your Nalgene Silo, simply wash it with warm, soapy water before its first use. While the bottle is dishwasher safe, it is best placed on the top rack. To maintain the leakproof seal, ensure the threads on both the cap and the bottle neck are free of debris or grit.
Regarding compatibility, the 63mm opening is the gold standard for outdoor gear. It integrates seamlessly with most screw-on filtration adapters. When packing, ensure your pack's side pocket is elasticized or adjustable, as the 1.5-litre volume results in a wider bottle footprint compared to standard 1-litre models.
