FAQs

Can I operate the awning manually if the power is out?

The system is designed for electric operation; please refer to the included manual for specific override instructions if applicable.

How do I clean the canopy material?

Use a soft cloth dampened with mild soapy water. Avoid high-pressure washers or harsh chemicals that might damage the fabric.

Does the solar panel work on cloudy days?

While it can generate some charge in overcast conditions, peak performance requires consistent, direct sunlight.

Can this be installed on any wall type?

It is designed for standard stable walls. Consult with a professional if installing on unusual surfaces like thin siding or hollow structures.

Is the unit waterproof?

The awning is designed for sun protection and light weather, but should be retracted during heavy rain or high winds to prevent damage.

Troubleshooting

Awning fails to retract via remote

Ensure the solar battery is sufficiently charged and check that the remote control battery is functional.

Awning moves slowly or stalls

Check the tracks for physical obstructions and ensure the solar panel has received enough direct sunlight to maintain optimal charge.

Pros and Cons

  • Sturdy and weather-resistant aluminium frame
  • Enhances aesthetic value of outdoor spaces

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Installation of the vidaXL Electric Retractable Awning is categorized as a DIY project, meaning it is designed for users comfortable with basic hand tools and mounting hardware. Ensure your wall surface is structurally sound enough to support the weight of the aluminium frame. For maintenance, periodically wipe down the fabric canopy with a damp cloth to remove dust or debris. Check the solar panel periodically to ensure it remains free of leaves or bird droppings, as an obstructed panel will impact the charging efficiency of the motor. During heavy winter months, it is advisable to keep the awning fully retracted to protect it from harsh environmental conditions.
