FAQs

What kind of recipes can I make in this slow cooker?

This slow cooker is versatile for a wide range of dishes including stews, casseroles, soups, chili, pulled pork, pot roasts, and even some desserts like bread pudding.

Can I put frozen meat directly into the slow cooker?

For food safety reasons, it is generally not recommended to place frozen meat directly into a slow cooker as it may stay in the 'danger zone' temperature for too long. Always thaw meat thoroughly before adding it to the slow cooker.

How do the `Low`, `High`, and `Auto` settings work?

The `Low` setting cooks food at a lower temperature for a longer period (e.g., 6-8 hours). The `High` setting cooks faster at a higher temperature (e.g., 4-6 hours). The `Auto` setting will cook on High until it reaches a certain temperature, then automatically switch to Low to finish cooking, and finally to a Keep Warm function, ensuring your meal is ready when you are.

Is the ceramic pot oven-safe or microwave-safe?

The product description specifies the ceramic pot is removable and dishwasher safe. It does not state if it is oven or microwave safe. To ensure safety and prevent damage, only use the ceramic pot within the slow cooker unit itself.

How much food can the 3.5L capacity hold?

A 3.5-litre capacity is generally sufficient to feed 3-4 people, making it ideal for small families or individuals who like to batch cook.

Can I use the slow cooker unattended?

Yes, slow cookers are designed for unattended cooking. However, ensure it is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from flammable materials, and always follow the safety instructions in the manual. Do not leave it on for excessively long periods beyond recipe recommendations.

Troubleshooting

Slow cooker not turning on.

Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into both the appliance and a working electrical outlet. Check your circuit breaker.

Food is cooking too slowly or not thoroughly.

Verify that the temperature setting (`Low` or `High`) is correct for your recipe and desired cooking time. Ensure the lid is properly sealed to prevent heat loss. Avoid lifting the lid frequently.

Food is sticking to the bottom of the ceramic pot.

Always add sufficient liquid as per your recipe. For dishes prone to sticking, you can lightly grease the inside of the ceramic pot before adding ingredients or use a slow cooker liner.

Exterior of the slow cooker is hot during operation.

This is normal. The exterior housing will get warm. Always use oven mitts when handling the ceramic pot or lid, and avoid touching the main unit during cooking.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Effortless Meal Preparation: Simplifies cooking by allowing ingredients to simmer slowly throughout the day.
  • Family-Sized Portions: 3.5L capacity comfortably serves multiple people.
  • Convenient 'Auto Keep Warm' Function: Automatically switches to warm mode after cooking, keeping food at an optimal serving temperature.
  • Easy to Clean: The removable ceramic pot is dishwasher safe, making post-meal cleanup straightforward.
  • Stylish Kitchen Addition: Its Nordic design enhances kitchen aesthetics.
  • Safe and Stable: Non-slip feet provide security on countertops.

Cons

  • No Integrated Timer: Requires manual monitoring or an external timer for precise cooking durations.
  • Manual Temperature Selection: Does not offer programmable settings for varied cooking stages.
  • Can Be Heavy When Full: The ceramic pot, especially when filled with food, can be substantial.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Initial Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials and read the instruction manual.
  2. Clean: Before first use, wash the removable ceramic pot and glass lid in warm, soapy water, then rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the main unit with a damp cloth.
  3. Position: Place the slow cooker on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface away from walls and other appliances, ensuring adequate ventilation.
  4. First Use: It's recommended to run the slow cooker for a few hours with water on the 'Low' setting during the first use to eliminate any manufacturing odors. Dispose of the water afterward.

Compatibility

This appliance is designed for general kitchen use and requires a standard household power outlet. It is compatible with a wide range of ingredients suitable for slow cooking.

Care and Maintenance

  • Ceramic Pot & Lid: The removable ceramic pot and glass lid are dishwasher safe for convenient cleaning. Alternatively, wash by hand with warm, soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge.
  • Main Unit: Wipe the exterior of the heating unit with a damp cloth. Never immerse the main unit in water or any other liquid.
  • Storage: Ensure all parts are clean and dry before storing. Store the ceramic pot and lid inside the main unit to save space.
  • Handling: The ceramic pot is durable but can break if dropped or subjected to sudden temperature changes.
