Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Lacing: Ensure the shoes are laced snugly but comfortably. Use a lacing technique that provides adequate ankle support without restricting circulation. Experiment with different lacing patterns to find the best fit for your foot shape.
- Initial Wear: While generally comfortable out of the box, a short break-in period on less demanding terrain is recommended to allow the shoes to conform to your feet.
Compatibility
- Activities: Ideal for day hiking, moderate backpacking, trail walking, and everyday casual wear.
- Socks: Pair with high-quality moisture-wicking hiking socks. Avoid cotton socks, which can retain moisture and lead to blisters.
- Terrain: Suited for varied terrain, including packed dirt, gravel paths, rocky trails, and light mud.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and maintain the performance of your X-ULTRA PRIME 2 GTX shoes:
- Cleaning: After use, especially if dirty or muddy, gently brush off loose dirt and debris. For more stubborn grime, use a soft brush or cloth with lukewarm water. Avoid harsh detergents.
- Drying: Allow the shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not expose them to direct heat sources like radiators, campfires, or direct sunlight, as this can damage materials and the Gore-Tex membrane.
- Waterproofing: Periodically check the outer material's water repellency. If water no longer beads up, you may need to apply a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment specifically designed for footwear with Gore-Tex.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight when not in use.
- Product Label: Always refer to the specific care instructions on the product label for the most accurate and manufacturer-recommended guidelines.
