They offer some insulation, but for extreme cold, consider boots specifically designed for winter conditions.
While suitable for some trails, they are primarily designed for hiking. Dedicated trail running shoes would be a better choice for running.
Wear moisture-wicking socks to keep your feet dry and comfortable. Consider the thickness of your socks when selecting your boot size.
Waterproof them periodically, especially before extended use in wet conditions. Follow the instructions on the waterproofing product.
Ensure you have the correct size. Try loosening the laces or wearing thinner socks.
Check for any damage to the GORE-TEX membrane. Clean and reapply a waterproof treatment.
Ensure the outsole is clean. Replace the boots when the tread wears down.
